Year of foundation

1990

For 35 years, the independent and private company ARP Ltd. and its subsidiary ECV Ltd. have been operating as an institute for research, development and industrial demonstration projects. Areas include mineral processing, chemical, pyro-metallurgical processes and thermal treatment of raw materials. A well-equipped technical centre and laboratory are available for this purpose, managed and operated by highly qualified and experienced engineers and experts. ARP Ltd. and ECV Ltd. are specialised in investigation and preparation of raw materials and minerals, as well as in the development and design of processes for preparation of residuals for the regaining of potential recyclables and inertisation of waste material. With its extensive equipment, ARP is able to run simulations of processes in pilot plant scale in a real industrial environment, starting with mechanical, up to chemical and pyro-metallurgical processes as well as thermal treatment. Due to the large variety of the existing equipment, a wide range of process simulations from lab scale up to pre-industrial pilot plant scale are possible (100 kg/h up to 1 t/h input). For the execution of the process simulations and analytics the necessary investigations can be carried out in the existing laboratory from chemical analysis up to mineralogical and physical determinations. In combination with the laboratory facilities, the whole process line can be simulated from the basic material characteristics to the above-mentioned steps in material preparation, as well as processes for thermal treatment and pyrometallurgical tests up to pilot plant scale.

Role in the Project

Within FlashPhos, ARP supports the engineering of the FlashPhos pilot plant, the procurement, construction and erection of the pilot plant at ARP’s premises, the design and construction of a slag handling system as well as the plant’s approval. ARP is also involved in the procurement, transport and grinding of dry sewage sludge for use in the pilot plant. Besides the commissioning of the pilot plant, ARP will also prepare experiments and operate the pilot plant during 8-10 experimental campaigns (in total 50 days of experiments) in 3-shift operation with 15-17 persons involved. In addition, ARP will be responsible for the facility’s maintenance and host a site visit.
