On January 17, 2023, FlashPhos partners jointly kicked off the new year in an online General Assembly Meeting. The meeting was the first consortium meeting gathering all project partners after last year’s successful Review Meeting and the General Assembly Meeting in Seville.
During the meeting, project coordinator Christian Schmidberger from the University of Stuttgart gave an update on the progress of the engineering work carried out in FlashPhos. Within the last year, the chemical engineering of the Flash Reactor and Refiner as well as the conceptual engineering of the FlashPhos process and pilot plant were defined. In addition, the proof of concept of the sludge Dryer-Grinder was achieved and the initial HAZID (hazard identification) Risk Assessment for the FlashPhos pilot plant was conducted.
This year, the Flash Reactor will be erected and installed on the premises of project partner ARP. The full FlashPhos pilot plant will be built by 2025, demonstrating the industrial FlashPhos process with up to 250 kg/h sewage sludge throughput.
We are motivated by all of this year’s upcoming project endeavours and are looking forward to the next face-to-face FlashPhos General Assembly Meeting with all partners, taking place in May 2023 – stay tuned!
